Looking to make a change in 2016?

You’re not alone.

According to the Statistic Brain Research Institute, three of the top five goals Americans list as their New Year's resolutions are to lose weight, enjoy life to the fullest and stay fit and healthy.

Lucky for us, there are plenty of places in The Sunshine State to stay active.

As the old year passes and we set out anew, you can bike, paddle and play 2016 day away in Florida, starting in Palm Coast.

The free "Trails and Parks Guide" lists routes and destinations where spotting wildlife is common.

"I have seen a bobcat in here, I have seen many deer,” says Cyclist Mike Ruzicka from St. Augustine.

The St. Joe Trail is one of several paved bike trails that are free of charge.

"These trails here are very well maintained,” Mike believes.

Thick hammocks and sunny paths along the Intracoastal Waterway are the attraction.

But, what happens when you take a bike and mix it with water?

"These are bicycles on two pontoons,” says Dan Fleischbein of the Tampa Bay Water Bike Company while sitting on water.

On the waterfront at the Tampa Convention Center, you'll find an attraction dedicated to pedal power.

"It's kinda like riding a bicycle, but on the water,” explains Aqua Cyclist Sarah Sexton.

The Tampa Bay Water Bike Company put folks on bikes, on the water.

"It's a lot easier than riding a bicycle, because you have both of the thingy's that balance you out,” Sarah says of the ride.

"It has a nice sturdy platform. You can stand on it. You can move it around, it's not going anywhere,” Dan promises.

Meantime, a "jungle gyms" for adults can be found on the banks of Charlotte Harbor.

"We all have a desire to play,” says Punta Gorda City Planner Mitchell Austin.

Yet, his monkey bars are made for adults.

"We evaluated all of the equipment to ensure it was low impact, that it worked all the muscle groups of the body,” Mitchell explains, while taking time away from the office to soak up the Florida sunshine and enjoy his newest project: the "Adult Fitness Zone" at Linear Park.

"It's a low impact, easy workout you can do,” believes Judy Modica visiting from Michigan.

“It works muscles in your body that you might now be aware of, but I don't think you can hurt yourself on it," Judy said.

Several pieces of workout equipment along the Punta Gorda Pathways feature exercises meant to tone, sculpt and stretch.

So, what does it feel like?

"Awesome!" exclaimed one playground user.
