Deputies in Osceola County say they have a suspect in custody in a drive by shooting in Poinciana Thursday night that left one man dead and his brother injured.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says Kejein Darrell Heggs, 28, was driving a BMW on Cypress Parkway in Poinciana when he began firing multiple times into a red car being driven by the brothers.  The car then crashed into a tree near Vance Harmon Park.

One of the brothers, whose names have not been released, was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he later died.  The other brother was transported to Poinciana Medical Center with serious injuries.

Deputies located Heggs a short time later at a relative’s home on Danbue Drive in Polk County and took him into custody

Heggs is charged with murder, shooting into an occupied conveyance and aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony.

Deputies say Heggs and one of the victims are documented gang members, but do not believe the crime is gang related.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the shooting and is urging anyone who witnessed it to call Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS (8477).
