Students and teachers in several Central Florida counties are getting some free supplies from one nonprofit orgranization and a bank.

A Gift for Teaching, which has teamed with SunTrust Banks, has three physical locations in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties and provides free school supplies to teachers across more than 330 public schools within that area.

But it has now launched a mobile store, The Pencil Boy Express, which delivers school supplies to needy students at dozens of schools 10 miles or more away from the Orange County free store.

"We are working with the organization to deliver needed supplies to students," SunTrust Banks President Arnold Evans said.

More than 60 percent of the public school students in Orange, Osceola and Seminole cou8nties come from families who can't afford lunch. Almost 12,000 are homeless, according to A Gift for Teaching. The nonprofit organization gives more than 97 percent of its funds back to classrooms.
