A Daytona Beach woman who was driving drunk when she hit and killed a woman three years ago was sentenced to 11 years in prison Tuesday.

In October, it took jurors only 19 minutes to find Sandra Dee Heilman, 44, guilty of DUI causing death.

On Nov. 10, 2012, Heilman was driving drunk when she rear-ended a car driven by 22-year-old Laura Hrobsky, who was stopped at a red light at the intersection of South Nova and Beville Roads in Daytona Beach. Hrobsky was pronounced dead at the scene.

Heilman’s blood-alcohol level was .152, almost two times the legal limit, and she also tested positive for THC.

During the trial, evidence showed that Heilman was traveling 61 mph in a 35 mph zone when she rear-ended Hrobsky.

When she is released from prison, Heilman will be placed on four years of drug-offender probation and will have her driver’s license revoked for life.
