Hundreds of workers at the Planet Hollywood restaurant at Disney Springs will lose their jobs in January.

On Monday the company filed a notice with the state that 468 workers will be laid off in January while the restaurant undergoes a six month renovation.

Planet Hollywood released the following statement:

For the last 20 years, Planet Hollywood's Disney location has been America's preeminent destination dedicated to celebrating the entertainment industry in a dynamic Hollywood museum-meets-restaurant atmosphere.

In January 2016, the iconic globe will temporarily close for extensive renovations and artistic treatments that will transform the Orlando flagship location into a four-story stargazing observatory.

"Following the restaurant's six month closing, the Orlando-based company pledged to employees that they would be given priority in the hiring process upon completion of the renovation," said a spokesperson for Planet Hollywood International.

The company announced plans in February to transform the building into a star-themed Planet Hollywood Observatory to match the look and feel of Disney Springs. The renovation will add a new outdoor terrace and bar space called Stargazers and feature live entertainment.
