A Surfing Santa hit the waves in Cocoa Beach Friday.

A professional surfer dressed as Santa cruised into Shepard Park in Cocoa Beach and came ashore to take some pictures with kids and hand out candy canes.

The organization "Surfing Santas" put the event together.  They say it's a big hit with local families.

"Oh my god, I can't believe it, this line. There's 150 people in line to get their picture with Surfing Santa. It's unbelievable, it's more than I could have dreamed of," said Surfing Santas founder George Trosset.

This is just the beginning for Surfing Santas this holiday season.

On Christmas Eve more than 300 surfers will hit the beach dressed as jolly St. Nick and more will skydive onto the shore.

They will also be taking donations for local charities.
