A Palm Coast man is under arrest after Flagler County deputies said he threw eggs and potatoes at them.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to a home on Ritchie Place on Tuesday night to investigate a loud banging noise coming from outside a bedroom window.

They found no sign of forced entry and spoke to 20-year-old Anthony Fennick, who asked them why they were there. After getting an explanation, Fennick thanked the deputies and went into his home.

The sheriff's office said that as the deputies were leaving, one of them noticed that a potato cut in half landed in the roadway behind another deputy’s patrol car.

Deputies searched for who might have thrown it, and as they were talking, an egg struck the front passenger-side door of a deputy’s vehicle, nearly hitting him and another deputy.

The deputies said they began searching for who was responsible and noticed three more eggs lying broken on the road, along with a potato and some kind of citrus fruit.

Two deputies then spoke with Fennick and said when they searched him, they found an egg in his front left pocket.

Deputies said they then brought Fennick back to his home, where they spoke with his mother and stepfather and asked whether they’d recently purchased eggs. A carton of eggs, purchased Tuesday, showed that five eggs were missing from the dozen, which equaled the four eggs tossed at deputies and one egg found in Fennick’s pocket. Deputies said they also found two bags of potatoes on the kitchen counter.

Fennick was arrested and charged with four counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, criminal mischief and loitering/prowling. He was transported to the Flagler County Jail on $7,000 bail.
