Police at the University of Central Florida are investigating Anti-Semitic posters and fliers found on campus containing offensive icons and words.

UCF Police have released images of two people they want to talk to. They are asking students and community members to help them catch the people responsible for spreading a message of hate on campus.

“I’m shocked by it. They can’t allow that kind of anti-Semitic behavior," said UCF parent Edward Varkonyi.

The messages were posted outside of UCF Tower IV residence hall around midnight on Sunday, Nov. 15.

UCF emailed students Wednesday night to explain how the school is committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive campus. Police Chief Richard Beary and Dr. Maribeth Ehasz with the school’s Student Development and Enrollment Services Office issued a joint statement:

"Events on the campus of the University of Missouri and in our very own residence halls serve as a reminder that respect must overcome hate -- we do not tolerate bigotry and offensive behavior.

"We are family, and we must all feel safe and confident that our identities and our values are respected."

“Putting things like that up, trying to break everyone up, showing their hate towards different people. It’s pretty terrible to be honest. It’s very selfish," said UCF student George Williams.

“It does surprise me a lot,” he added. “The people I’ve met in Towers and around UCF have been very nice, very welcoming. They want to talk to you, get to know you, where you’re from and everything. So I think that you can describe them as anomalies, to be honest with you."

Investigators said the messages with offensive icons and hateful words were found in four separate locations on campus on Nov. 15 and 16.

It’s especially troubling for the parent of a Jewish student who is ready to take his son home for Thanksgiving break.

“I do find it particularly offensive because I happen to be Jewish,” Varkonyi said. “But whether it was against Jews or African-Americans or any kind of hate crimes, it shouldn’t be accepted anywhere in the country and particularly on a college campus, even more so where you have people of all walks of life attending.”

“They definitely need to put a stop to this it and find out who the people are," he added.

UCF Police is urging anyone who knows the people they are looking for to call them at (407)-823-5555.
