A Volusia County woman who hit and killed a skateboarder last year will spend the next 11 years in prison.

On Feb. 3, 2014, Jody Ann Arcuri, 33, was driving on U.S. 1 in South Daytona at about 3:30 p.m. when her car veered into the bike lane and struck and killied 23-year-old Stephen Wilson of New Smyrna Beach as he was riding his skateboard.

Toxicology reports from tests done on Arcuri, of Holly Hill, show that she was under the influence of a number of prescription drugs, illegal drugs and had a blood-alcohol content of .09 about four hours after the crash. Arcuri had previously been convicted on drug possession charges.

After her release from prison, she will be on four years of drug-offender probation. Arcuri’s driver’s license is revoked for life.
