A Bushnell man was killed when his vehicle struck a tree early Sunday in Lake County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

At about 4:45 a.m., Roberto Jaime Zapata, 36, was driving a 2002 Toyota Sequoia west on Tuscanooga Road a half-mile west of Painted Horse Lane when the Sequoia traveled onto the south shoulder and hit a tree.

Zapata was not wearing a seat belt, and the crash is under investigation, troopers said.
