Leaders in Titusville are hoping recent job opportunities are a clear sign the Space Coast is on the rebound following thousands of layoffs in the space shuttle industry.

City leaders also want to diversify the area's aerospace economy and make northern Brevard County a cultural destination.

This weekend, the public is invited to the Art and Algorithms festival in downtown Titusville.

"It's us figuring out what we're really all about," Titusville Mayor Jim Tulley said. "You know, for so many years, we depended on the space center and not much more than that. Now, we're really diversifying. We've got new companies coming in and we've got people thinking about different things to do."

The art festival is all about combining art and technology to create some interactive exhibits.

"Digital art resonates with our community because we're right next to NASA and all the great things that have happened from a technological perspective at the Kennedy Space Center," said Marcia Gaedcke, CEO and president of the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce. "And so, it fits."

Students have been able to check out the exhibits all week long.

Art and Algorithms runs through the end of the weekend in downtown Titusville. The event is free to the public. For more information, go to www.artandalgorithms.com.
