A new national cemetery is now available for veterans and their families in Tallahassee.

A ceremony was held on Friday to mark the first burials at the 133rd VA national cemetery in the country.

The 250-acre cemetery will be available for veterans and eligible family members.

Officials believe it could serve the burial needs of more than 83,000 for the next 100 years.

There are eight VA National cemeteries in Florida. Bushnell, in Sumter County is the location of Florida National Cemetery.

The St. Augustine National Cemetery is closed to new internments, and the Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg is only accepting cremated remains for interment.

A ninth national cemetery is coming to Brevard County in Mims. The Veterans Administration says the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery will serve the needs of more than 163,000 veterans in the next 100 years.
