It might seem a bit early for Christmas decorating, but the lights are starting to go up in Brevard County.

Volunteers spent Saturday morning at Wickham Park in Melbourne preparing for Space Coast Light Fest.

The annual Christmas light show actually begins November 15. It takes a whole month to set up the lights, plus they leave extra time for testing.

On Saturday a group of Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts was there to help set up.

"It's amazing," said 14-year-old Scout Ian Porter. "It's an amazing feeling to drive through the very first time and see the lights up and you know that you did that and that you're part of it."

Santa Claus will be on hand to flip the switch on Nov. 15. Other events includes a 5K run, Stroll night, Star Wars night and a hayride through the light displays.

It costs $15 a car (it's a drive-thru event). You can get a $2 discount if you donate to Toys For Tots. There is also a discount for seniors and veterans.
