As the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks set to do battle Sunday in Super Bowl XLIX, some special puppies will be hitting the turf for the Puppy Bowl XI.

This year, quite a few of the puppies are rescues from the Central Florida area.

The dogs are cute, curious and soon, they're going to be celebrities.

"So, our hope is that someone will see them and say, 'Hey, that's my dog' and apply to adopt them," said Laurie Johnson, director of the Florida Little Dog Rescue.

With the hopes of adopting out more dogs, the Florida Little Dog Rescue decided to nominate all 16 of its recently rescued puppies to play at this year's Puppy Bowl. All of the dogs were rescued from kill shelters in Central Florida. Now, the rescue hopes people see the puppies in action and then find them some forever homes.

"I was volunteering with Florida Little Dog Rescue at the Puppy Bowl, and I took him out of his carrier, and I was just done," said Michelle Maskaly, who adopted Bubba.

Bubba isn't the only one who has already been adopted, either.

Out of more than 80 puppies in the Puppy Bowl, only Olaf and Starlight are still searching for homes.

Olaf is a 6-month-old Poodle who gets along with older kids and is working on becoming housetrained.

Starlight, a 5-month-old long-haired Chihuahua/Pomeranian/Lab mix, weighs approximatly 15 pounds. She should stay under 40 pounds when fully grown and loves constant companionship. Starlight is shy around new people at first and will need a fenced yard.

After Sunday's big game, the organization thinks the two puppies won't have a problem finding homes.

"It really showcases the talents that they have," Maskaly said. "It just shines a spotlight on rescue dogs."
