Police are searching for a suspect after an elderly woman's purse was stolen outside a supermarket in Brevard County.

Around 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, police said an 85-year-old woman exited the Publix on West New Haven Avenue with her purse in the cart's child seat.

While unloading groceries into her car, police said the male suspect approached on foot and stole her purse.

Officers responded to the area, but were unable to locate a suspect. The victim was not injured.

Police said the victim's credit cards were used that day at the Norfolk Parkway Target, a Mobil gas station on Palm Bay Road and at a Walmart on Malabar Road in Palm Bay.

The suspect is described as in his early 20s, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall with an average build. He had short dirty blond hair and a trimmed beard.
