A Flagler County homeowner is suing the Federal Aviation Administration about two years after an airplane crashed into her home.

A four-seat Beechcraft BE35 airplane crashed into Susan Crockett's Utica Path home on Jan. 4, 2013, killing all three people on board. The FAA said the flight was headed to Downtown Island Airport in Knoxville, Tennessee, but it was diverted to the Flagler County Airport.

Crockett, who was inside the home at the time, sustained injuries to her shoulder after climbing out of her window, according to attorney Marc Dwyer. He said she has been paying her own bills, including surgery costs for her shoulder.

Dwyer also said the home was declared uninhabitable and was later demolished.

According to the lawsuit filed Jan. 2, Dwyer said the plane's owner and pilot Michael Anders did not have insurance and there isn't a federal or state requirement for private planes to be covered.

"So through no fault of her own, the victim has had to bear the brunt of all of these things at her own expense," Dwyer said.

It's unknown how much Crockett is seeking in damages.
