A man is in custody and another driver sought after shots were fired in broad daylight Saturday in Orange County.

The incident happened around 10:20 a.m. Saturday, near the CVS pharmacy at 7330 Curry Ford Road, near Goldenrod Road.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, someone from a black Cadillac fired shots at a white Ford Focus. Someone in a white Ford Focus returned fire, deputies said.

The Focus then crashed into the base of the CVS sign after two shooters exchanged gunfire from their moving vehicles.

Someone from the Focus fled the scene, but a K-9 unit was able to track and secure the suspect, deputies said.

Lt. Susan Wallis, of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, said the two shooters put the public — and a deputy who was responding to an unrelated call — in danger.

"It's very, very dangerous," Wallis said. "There's a lot of traffic. People are out shopping."

The Cadillac involved in the incident was last seen heading east on Curry Ford Road.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
