An internal investigation reveals misuse of county funding at Lake County Animal Services.

Three animal control workers have been reprimanded for allowing a worker's dog to have an expensive surgery at the shelter for almost nothing.

The animal control officer said her family's dog was going to be put to sleep.

Instead the dog had the surgery and the the officer was allowed to re-adopt the dog for a small fee.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office points out this happened last September, before the Sheriff’s Office took over.

That takeover happened in part because of the unusually high number of animals being euthanized there.
