Robert Corchado, the man convicted of causing a deadly crash into a KinderCare near Winter Park in April, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

The judge's sentence, handed down Friday, includes a mandatory 15 years behind bars.

Corchado, 29, was found guilty in December on seven separate counts, including leaving the scene of a deadly accident and drug trafficking.

Corchado will serve his sentences on each count concurrently, totaling about 40 years in prison.

In April 2014, Corchado took off after hitting another car, sending it crashing into a wall of the KinderCare on North Goldenrod Road.

The crash into the day care killed 4-year-old Lily Quintus. Another 12 people, including 11 children, were injured.

Corchado took the stand during his trial, saying he did not know the car had crashed into the day care, and admitted to dealing drugs.
