An Ocoee man won $3 million in a Florida Lottery scratch-off game that he said was in his dog's Christmas stocking.

Bill Kelly, 58, claimed his prize in Tallahassee in the form of a lump-sum payment of over $2.3 million.

Kelly said he purchased three $600 Million Gold Rush scratch-off tickets at the Publix on Silver Star Road in Ocoee. He then put them in his family's Christmas stockings.

The winning ticket ended up being in his dog's stocking, Kelly said.

"Giving Florida Lottery scratch-off tickets as Christmas gifts is one of my holiday traditions," Kelly said. "I always hope to at least win my money back, and I play to win, but I never expected this."

The Florida Lottery said eight top prizes of $3 million remain in its $600 Million Gold Rush scratch-off game.
