The ribbon was just recently cut on Cabana Bay at Universal Orlando. But the resort is moving fast on its next resort.

On Tuesday Universal announced the Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, a new Caribbean-style hotel that is expected to open in the summer of 2016.

The new hotel will be located across Adventure Way from the new Cabana Bay Beach Resort. It will become the destination's fifth resort hotel and its 1,000 rooms, including 77 suites, will bring the number of on-site hotel rooms at Universal Orlando to 5,200.

Loews Sapphire Falls is inspired by the rivers and waterfalls of the Caribbean. In fact a towering waterfall is included in the island theme of the resort, along with a flowing river. A resort-style pool with a water slide, children's play area, sand beach and fire pit will also be a central part of the courtyard.

The hotel will also have three food options: a poolside bar and grill, a full-service restaurant and a Caribbean marketplace.

Sapphire Falls will also be a convention hotel with 131,000 square feet of meeting space and a bridge that connects the resort to Loews Royal Pacific resort and its meeting space.

There will be water taxi and shuttle access to all of the entertainment and dining options through Universal Resort Orlando.

Booking information and pricing will be announced at a later date. But it looks like you could start making plans for your 2016 trip as early as next spring.
