Eustis police made two arrests after responding to a domestic dispute on Sunday; once they discovered an active methamphetamine lab inside the couple's hotel room.

Police responded to the call at the Cara Mar Motor Lodge on South Bay Street, and while investigating the domestic incident, officers uncovered evidence that led them to believe there was an active meth lab inside the room.

Upon executing a search warrant, a search of the room confirmed officer's suspicions when they located the active meth lab.

Police arrested Mary Witsman, 23, and George Mayer, 42, and charged the pair with trafficking more than 28 grams of methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to police, both Witsman and Mayer have a criminal history with narcotics; Mayer had 10 active warrants out of Lake County for various crimes.

Before the Lake County Sheriff's Office Hazardous Chemical Unit worked to decontaminate the scene, police evacuated adjacent rooms to ensure the safety of other occupants in the building.
