Officials with Brevard County Fire Rescue have confirmed a small plane was damaged after a rough takeoff and minor crash on Saturday, injuring one person.

The crash happened around 2 p.m. at Merritt Island Airport, and rescue crews promptly responded to the scene.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office has confirmed the accident involved a single engine airplane with one occupant who lost control while taking off.

Airport officials say the incident has been stabilized, and the injured person has been transported to HRMC via First Flight.
