If you're all jazzed up about the Dr. Phillips Center's grand opening this November, you could start becoming part of the team right now.

The performing arts center is looking to more than double its number of volunteers. Guest Services Manager Olivia Haine told us that about 200 had shown up at a recent volunteer fair, but she is hoping for hundreds more.

An additional fair has not been scheduled, so Haine and her team want a strong turnout online.

Here are the available positions:

Usher: Generally positioned within the theaters, ushers will read guest tickets and guide them to the correct location, row and seat. Ushers may be required to stand for long periods, climb stairs, and resolve guest issues, and work in areas of subdued lighting.

Ticket Scanner: Positioned at the guests' point of entry, ticket scanners will use handheld devices and scan tickets to allow guests entry to specific events. This position requires standing for an extended period of time and deal with a high volume of traffic.

Concierge: The concierge desk is located behind the Grand Staircase in the main lobby, and will be a hub of knowledge and assistance for guests. In addition to handing out Assistive Listening Devices, concierge will be seated behind the desk and be able to answer questions about shows, tickets, venues, as well as recommend local restaurants, and call for taxis. This position requires the ability to use internet searches as well as answer complex questions in a clear, concise manner.

Program Distribution: Positioned within the theaters, program distributors will greet guests, hand out program, and may be asked to assist with seating needs. This position may be required to stand for long periods, resolve guest issues, and work in areas of subdued lighting.

Greeter: Positioned throughout the main lobby, and lobbies on other floors, Greeters assist guests in directions and amenities within the building.

Education Events: This positions works directly with our School of Arts and Education department. Responsibilities include running event check-in tables, backstage management of young artists and occasional office support. This position will require consent for a background check.

School Series Ushers: Similar responsibilities as listed above in the "Usher" description, but specifically assigned to our School Series performances and events for youth ages Pre-K through High School. This position will require consent for a background check. Just fill out the form - indicating how many hours you want to work, and when you want to work.

Haine says that the Dr. Phillips Center will rely heavily on the volunteers, so they'll go through a cross-training process. Volunteers will also get the same training as paid staff - including safety training.

Plus, Haine is also working on perks. She doesn't have those details yet, but is already working on having volunteer-based events.
