The gorilla population has grown by one over at Disney's Animal Kingdom

The baby boy was born earlier this month on September 3, and this isn't the first one.

The first gorilla born at Disney's Animal Kingdom was before the park opened in 1997, another was born in 1999 and yet another in 2010.

Counting the two born at the park in 2014, the grand total is five gorilla births, all of which are part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) Species Survival Plan (SSP), which ensures long-term survival of species by helping AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums manage species’ genetic diversity through detailed records of individual animals.
