The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office is offering free self-defense lessons for women.

Classes take place on Mondays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Parkway NE.

They are comprised of three 2-hour classes.

Participants will receive information and hands-on defensive training from certified instructors.

The class began in 2007 and has taught more than 1,200 women ages 12 and older.

“In May of this year, we held our 100th women’s self-defense class,” said Sheriff James L. Manfre. “It is a worthwhile class in which women of all ages have benefited from.”

Classes will be held Sept. 22, 29, Oct. 26, Nov. 10, Nov. 17 and Nov. 24.
