Firefighters contained a fire in Volusia County on Thursday, and even rescued the resident's cat safely from the blaze.

The fire occurred on the 200 block of North Wild Olive Avenue around noon on Thursday, September 18.

Heavy black smoke could be seen from miles away; Ormond Beach firefighters assisted the Daytona Beach Fire Department in their rescue effort.

The second floor of the two-story home was completely engulfed by flames when crews arrived on the scene.

While responding, officials say fire crews received several reports indicating a person may still be inside the home.

Firefighters began an offensive attack on the fire, and entered the home to search for the reported person.

Though crews did not find anyone else in the home, they were able to locate the resident's cat, and safely removed the furry friend from danger.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and is believed to have done around $60,000 worth of damages.

The three adult residents, and their cat, will receive assistance from the American Red Cross.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
