It's been one year since 83-year-old Elena Ortega was killed and her home was set on fire.

It happened in an East Orlando neighborhood, and friends and family still want justice for her murder.

"It was horrendous, it was horrific it was brutal," said friend DeAnna Yoder. I mean she was 83, there was no sense."

Yoder said it feels like it was just yesterday that Ortega was killed. Police said the suspects broke into the 83-year-old woman’s house, robbed and beat her unconscious,  then set her house on fire and left her to die.

"It still hits me, I mean I stood here and practically broke down because this woman did not deserve this, she was such a good person."

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has two people of interest in the case, but the thing that upsets friends the most is that still one year later, no arrest has been made in Ortega's murder.

One of those persons of interest is Juan Rosario. Rosario is already serving prison time for a home invasion that happened just down the street from Ortega's home, just months before her death.

Detectives said people in the neighborhood know more about the murder than they are saying, but may be afraid to come forward, and that is holding up the case.

Yoder just wants to see justice for Ortega and her family.

"Its not about the code of the street, it's about what is right and what is wrong," Yoder said. "And having some honor about yourself and not holding information that has to do with a brutal murder. It's that simple, but they don't realize that."
