Discussion and 48-hour outlook

At 11 p.m., the center of Hurricane Edouard was located near latitude 39.9 north, longitude 39.2 west.  

Edouard is moving toward the east near 17 mph. A slower eastward motion is expected over the next day or so, followed by a turn to the southeast.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 70 mph, with higher gusts. Weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours. Edouard is expected to degenerate to a post-tropical cyclone Friday night.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 205 miles.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 980 millibars, or 28.94 inches.
