The Sheila Graham Trott murder trial came to a halt Thursday morning, this as talk of a possible plea deal surfaced. It all happened before day five of testimony even began.

Trott is accused of killing Kelly Brennan in 2010, the woman prosecutors say was having an affair with Trott's estranged husband, a former Indialantic mayor.

Court was set to resume but proceedings were delayed for nearly two hours while a potential plea deal brought by prosecutors was discussed by Trott and her defense team.

"There was some discussion about resolving the case," said Judge James Earp. "From the state's perspective, what's going on?"

"It appears we are at an impasse, Judge," answered prosecutor Jim McMaster. "It was made and rejected, a counter offer was made and rejected by the state, a medium offer was discussed back and forth but is not in agreement."

The judge then asked Trott if she fully understood the discussions that had taken place.

"I want to make sure you are fully informed about the parameters of any possible resolution, and that you've made your own independent judgement to reject them. Have you done that?" asked the judge.

"Yes sir," responded Trott.

Testimony moved forward with a Brevard Sheriff's Office crime scene tech who processed where the suspected murder took place, the home on Cypress Avenue in Indialantic where Kelly Brennan was staying with a friend.

Also testifying for the prosecution was Lt. Scott Armstrong, former head of the BCSO crime scene unit, who also worked to process the yard.

Armstrong testified he took samples of hair clumps found in the driveway and documented blood stains found in the grass.

"Where I had seen two lines, like somebody had driven a vehicle and smashed the grass down," testified Lt. Armstrong.

It's that front yard where investigators said Trott killed Kelly Brennan before taking her body to a beach access several miles away.

Trott faces a maximum of the rest of her 'natural' life in prison. Testimony continues Friday.
