All new, there's been a second machete attack in less than 5 days in Volusia County. This time it happened in Daytona Beach.

Police say 23-year-old Aisha Gillis got into an argument with Donald Gillis Heffner and his girlfriend Monday afternoon.

The confrontation started inside Gillis' grandmother's home on Garden street, but ended up outside.

That's when Aisha Gillis told police she reacted violently after she was attacked by Heffner and found a machete inside the house, and attacked him with it.

"There was some type of argument and she's alleging that the male pushed her down. She got mad, she went into the house, and when she came back out of the house she had a machete. And she went to swinging the machete wild. She was going after the male," said Sergeant Jimmie Flynt, Daytona Beach Police Department.

Police say Heffner was seriously cut in the attack and say his girlfriend stepped-in and was also severely cut by the machete.

The two drove themselves to Halifax Medical Center where they were admitted and are both listed in serious condition.

Aisha Gillis is charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
