Holly Hill police arrested Alexis Quintero after he allegedly attacked one of his neighbors with a machete Friday.

It happened around 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29 at a home on the 1600 block of Espanola Avenue in the Espanola complex.

Police and family of the victim, 25-year-old Luis Castro, said Castro and Quintero, 42, had an ongoing feud.

"They weren't getting along anymore anyways. So, yeah it was weird that they actually even talked. But I guess they, I guess they were just hanging out with everyone else," said Maria Martinez, who lives with Castro and his family.

It was while they were hanging out Friday Quintero allegedly took a machete and attacked Castro, so viciously, he suffered cuts to both his arms while trying to protect himself, as well as cuts to his neck.

Witnesses were asked if they believed the injuries Castro suffered were serious.

"It must've been with all the blood that I've seen everywhere. so it must've been really bad," said neighbor Scott Williamson.

Castro was rushed to Halifax Medical Center where Martinez said he is in stable condition and expected to recover.

Only a few apartments inside the Espanola complex separate Castro and Quintero.

Castro lives in apartment number 107 while Quintero lives in number 104.

Quintero is well known to the children in the area.

One mother, who did not want to be interviewed, told News 13 her daughter was chased down by Quintero with a machete in hand.

"The guy chased them down with a machete before. The kids," said Williamson.

Neighbors are relieved now that Quintero, who was considered armed and dangerous by police, was arrested Sunday.

"Just the fact that it was here, where he knows there's kids, and it was kinda at an early time. It wasn't very late. If he's found and he comes back here, what would you say to him? I don't think I would get close to him I would just call the cops," said Martinez, who admitted she's scared.

Police said Quintero was taken to the Volusia County Jail and held on no bond but refused to be we.

Neighbors told News 13 Quintero is originally from Honduras.

Police did not have any information regarding his citizenship status.
