A boy in Brevard County is recovering after his parents suspect a shark bit him.

It happened Saturday and was just one of many close encounters this weekend along the coast.

Some close encounters with sharks, not stopping people from enjoying the surf here at Paradise Beach in Melbourne.”

Swimmers enjoyed the warm ocean waters Sunday; but just a day earlier, two sharks were spotted swimming at Paradise Beach.

Lifeguards cleared the water as soon as the sharks were spotted.

“I saw a couple of spinners jump off about 100 yards out, nothing crazy. Just a couple of sharks," said Elias Hensel, Melbourne surfer. "It’s kind of natural for Florida, especially with everything that’s going on right now, because there’s a lot of bait. And it’s kind of alive out there, the ocean has been real alive, but I saw a little bull shark too.”

Viewers submitted photos of two sharks near Paradise beach on Saturday; not too far from where a young boy suffered a heel injury that his parents suspect is a shark bite.

He was treated by the Patrick Air Force Base Fire Department before being transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

It’s recommended you swim near a lifeguard. They often have a better view of the ocean from their stand and can blow the whistle or fly the red flag if they do spot any sharks.
