A rabid fox is causing changes at Lake County Animal Services.

Lake County has night drop kennels where people can drop off unwanted animals after hours.

But because of the fox with Rabies found in the Mount Dora area, those are now closed.

That’s so staff can check the animals vaccination status before they enter the shelter.

Those regular business hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Rabies alert is expected to last 60 days, and pet owners are advised to keep a close eye on their pets.
