The armed man police say caused a disturbance, and subsequent officer-involved shooting in downtown Orlando Aug. 19, is now facing first-degree murder charges.

Investigators have filed three new charges against Kody Roach, who was initially charged with only carrying a concealed firearm following the shooting that killed an innocent woman.

Those charges are first-degree murder, attempted armed burglary of an occupied structure with a firearm and armed trespassing in an occupied structure.

The latter two charges stem from accusations that Roach was waiving around his firearm inside of a bar, and tried to forcefully re-enter the bar after being thrown out.

The first-degree murder is because of the death of that 22-year-old innocent bystander, Maria Godinez. Godinez was fatally struck by a bullet that was fired by an Orlando police officer attempting to neutralize Roach after they say he initiated a confrontation with them upon their arrival.
