Forty-eight students and their bus driver are OK after pepper spray was released on their school bus in Orange County.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. Thursday on English Street near Rutledge Avenue.

A parent said her child saw a student spray something on the bus.

A school district spokeswoman said the driver followed protocol, stopping the bus immediately and calling 911 to report the incident.

The students were transported to Riverdale Elementary School on another bus.

The incident was quite a shock for parents, just four days into the new school year.

"Just panic. Every parent would be panicked," said Paulette Bosch, a parent. "So once I heard the bus number, I kind of knew it's her bus."

The district said parents will receive a call home, notifying them of the incident.

School administrators are speaking with students to determine what happened and what disciplinary action will occur.

No injuries were reported.
