Just weeks after Marineland Dolphin Adventure lost iconic dolphin 'Nellie' at age 61, the park welcomed a baby dolphin.
Twenty-five-year-old "Dazzle" gave birth to a female calf on May 22 at the park, which is on the northern tip of Flagler County.
Now the little girl needs a name.
Staff at Marineland as well as Georgia Aquarium, which runs Marineland, came up with four choices. A contest is now underway to choose the best name.
They are:
- Calypso. In Greek mythology the sea nymph's symbol is a dolphin
- Coquina, which is the type of rock found in the area, made up of compressed shells and corals
- Shimmer, which could go well with her mom's name of 'Dazzle'
- Stella, which is Latin for “star.”
You can vote on the Marineland Dolphin Adventure Facebook page through Sept. 2. When you vote, you will also be entered to win a trip for two to Marineland and a new device from AT&T.
