An Orange County man taken into custody Friday after a nearly 11-hour standoff faced a judge Monday in connection to a double murder.

James Stewart is one of two men arrested in connection to the deadly shooting Tuesday at the Misty Oaks Apartments. The second man was arrested over the weekend in North Carolina.

Deputies said they were trying to serve an arrest warrant Friday, when Stewart barricaded himself inside a home on Aden Court.

A SWAT team ended up tear-gassing the home and found Stewart hiding in part of the home's heating and cooling system.

No one was hurt in the standoff, but crews had to spend the day after clearing the home of tear gas.

Stewart, who turned 30 on Saturday, has been charged with first-degree murder for Tuesday's shooting, in which Ron Williams, 31, and Amanda Johnson, 27, were killed. A third woman was also shot, but survived.

Investigators said the second suspect, David Lopez, was arrested Saturday in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Stewart has been locked up without bond in the Orange County Jail.
