The rain didn’t wash out Central Florida’s largest fireworks show, about 150,000 packed Altamonte Springs Cranes Roost Park, for Red Hot and Boom.

And the hot and humid weather had first responders on high alert.

The paramedics on hand were busy Thursday. Thirty-five people saw the paramedics, and five were taken to the hospital. Only one went to hospital for heat-related illness.

An Altamonte Springs police spokesperson confirmed one person fainted, and several others were treated by paramedics on the scene because of the hot and humid weather.

But everyone is expected to be OK and the fireworks went off without a hitch.

It’s a fun, family event, but the best seats are always first come, first served.

“We always get this spot. This is the spot for us every year. I wish we could put a name over here,” said Mount Dora resident Felix Rosa.

For Felix Rosa, Red Hot and Boom is now an annual tradition, he says his family has been attending for seven or eight years.

A tradition that brings the family from Lake County to Altamonte Springs, where they spend the whole day camping out.

“We come over here around 10:30 in the morning, while my wife is working and set up the camp and everybody gets to together later on,” said Rosa.

“I think it’s kind of fun that we come out here and do this with the family and it’s pretty nice, the fireworks are really good,” said Sheldon Simmons II, also a resident of Mount Dora.

Hundreds of police officers, firefighters and paramedics were on hand to quickly treat any heat related illnesses.  With the hot and humid weather in mind…  I had one final question for Felix Rosa.

When asked if it was worth being out here 11 hours in advance, Rosa didn't even hesitate, saying, "Just for the show yes sir. Absolutely. This show is amazing.”

The Red Hot and Boom concert stage was headlined by UCF’s own Alex & Sierra, winners of the X-Factor.
