A well known Brevard County restaurant will remain closed today after vandals smashed wine bottles, tore up paintings and destroyed toilets.

Now Cocoa police are looking for those responsible for the damage at the Black Tulip Restaurant.

Clean up continues Thursday at the Black Tulip Restaurant. Much will be replaced, but some things like these torn up paintings will never be the same.

When co-owner Tanya Colzani opened up her restaurant Wednesday, she opened the doors to find broken bottles, paintings ripped and even toilets smashed.

"I first noticed just wine bottles shattered everywhere, all over the floors, heard running water, every sink was clogged up, running throughout the kitchens, the bathrooms, the bar area," said Tanya Colzani, co-owner of The Black Tulip.

Colzani estimates more than $100,000 in damage was done to the restaurant, which she co-owns with her father.

He returns from a vacation in Brazil Friday.

Their small, family owned restaurant has been a staple in this community since 1981.

Vandals damaged mirrors, fans, lights and chairs too. They even unplugged refrigerators, spoiling all the food.

Police believe the person or persons responsible for this mess broke in between Monday evening and Wednesday morning, and Colzani suspects its someone that's familiar with the restaurant.

She says there's evidence the vandals cooked a meal before leaving.

They also stole the restaurant's catering van, which Cocoa police are still actively searching for. It's a silver catering van, with no logo. The van has a Florida tag of J72-3RV.

Although they'll still be able to cater, it will take sometime to clean up the restaurant, so they're hoping to reopen sometime next week.

Anyone with information on the crime, the suspects or the location of the van should contact police.
