According to a new report from the Center for Disease Control, more than a third of children in the U.S. are overweight or obese. But the number of those children who actually view themselves that way could surprise you.

According to that report from the CDC, many overweight children don't seem to think of themselves that way.

The report says that nearly one third of children between the ages of 8 and 15 put themselves in the wrong weight category.

That's equals about 9 million young people that are putting themselves into the wrong category for their weight.

Experts say if people don't recognize they have a weight issue, it could make it harder to change any unhealthy behaviors.

Being overweight or obese can increase a child's risk for cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and other health issues.
