The Department of Veterans Affairs is vowing to make sure nobody else gets locked inside a Volusia County clinic.

We first brought you the story Monday of a veteran who was stuck inside a closed VA clinic in Orange City.

Marine veteran Jeff Duck said he was told to stay in a room. After a while he realized he was the only person there.

The VA medical director called Duck Monday night to apologize, promising better care.

Duck went back to the VA on Tuesday and said he had a much better experience.

"There's still some room for improvement, but for as far as how I was taken care of today, they apologized yesterday for what happened and I think they did a good job at following through on that promise today," Duck said.

A VA spokeswoman said the agency will review its closing procedures to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Duck eventually got out after he set off an alarm and called 911.

The VA issued the following statement Tuesday morning:

"We want to apologize to Mr. Duck for his experience yesterday at the Orange City VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic. The Orange City VA’s Chief Medical Officer reached out to Mr. Duck to assist him with his health care needs. We are looking at our closing procedures and will make changes to ensure that this does not happen again."
