A man was arrested Monday after he was caught with a loaded handgun at a checkpoint inside Orlando International Airport, according to the Transportation Security Administration.

The 9mm handgun loaded with 15 rounds was detected by a TSA agent in the carry-on bag of a David Gutierrez, 30, who was flying from Orlando to Chicago. TSA called in the Orlando Police Department, who responded and confiscated the firearm and ammunition.

Gutierrez told police that he forgot he put the loaded gun into his bag and that he didn't intentionally bring it to the security checkpoint, a report states.

The firearm was detected at the east checkpoint within the airport. Five firearms have been detected at the Orlando International Airport in July, and 25 have been detected since the beginning of the year.

Gutierrez was arrested on a state charge of bringing a firearm in a place prohibited by law.
