A woman remains behind bars for child neglect after deputies say she left her young kids in a motel room alone in Orange County.

Deputies say Marlene Moreno left her sons, one of them only 11 months old, at a Countryside Inn in Orlando for more than a day.

One of the boys told deputies that his mother had been gone since Friday afternoon.

Deputies say the mom asked a neighbor if she could watch her infant son for an hour.

However, that neighbor said she never called or came back. The neighbor told deputies that Moreno's other child came back to get the infant, and took him to their room down the hall.

A security officer was asked by the front desk to check the room after the desk attendant saw a child walking unsupervised in the area.

Security found the two boys alone, and called police.

Deputies arrived and spoke to the older child, who told them his mother had not been home since the day before, but she just called saying she was on her way from the bus station.

Deputies say the child told them it was the third time their mother left them alone, but this was longest she had ever been gone.

Police made contact with Moreno, who said she was handling business with a storage unit, but didn't have a ride back to the motel.

According to deputies, she was already on inmate release for a previous child neglect incident.

Moreno was arrested and charged with child neglect Saturday night.

The children are now in the care of the Department of Children and Families.
