A man remains in the hospital Saturday morning after he was shot multiple times by Orlando Police Department officers during an early morning confrontation near downtown Orlando, police said.

Ta’Von Grayson, 22, is in serious but stable condition at the hospital, although he is in Orange County Corrections' custody.

Grayson is charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. More charges are pending, police said.

The shooting incident happened when Orlando bike officers attempted to make contact with Grayson inside his vehicle around 1:26 a.m., at 2 S. Orange Ave., which was parked inside a parking garage.

Grayson refused to stop and drove directly toward one of the officers. The officer was forced to jump out of the path of the suspect's vehicle, police said.

Police attempted to again make contact with Grayson near West Amelia Street and Garland Avenue, where one officer discharged his weapon.

Grayson was encountered for a third time by five police officers at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Colonial Drive. There were two police vehicles struck by the man's vehicle. Two other vehicles were involved in the crash. No people were injured.

The five police officers involved in the shooting will be routinely relieved of duty until the Florida Department of Law Enforcement completes its investigation.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

Roads were closed near downtown Orlando as the investigation continued, but all roads were reopened by 9 a.m. (Orange Avenue will be closed for the next three weeks for unrelated construction.)
