A power outage on Sunday caused a monorail at Disney World to shut down, leaving more than 100 passengers stranded for more than an hour, an official said.

There were about 120 people on board the monorail when the train shut down near the Wildnerness Lodge, according to a Disney World spokeswoman.

No one was injured, but the passengers were stranded high up on the monorail while crews were called in to rescue them.

Emergency personnel used large trucks equipped with ladders to help the people off the train.

The train stopped moving around 6:30 p.m., the time when some strong storms moved through the area, Disney World officials said. It was expected to resume operations by 8:30 a.m. Monday, according to Andrea Finger, a Disney World spokeswoman.

Finger said the storm is the likely cause of the power outage. There is no evidence lightning struck the monorail, Finger said.

This is the second time in less than a week that Disney World is making headlines for mishaps.

Last week, a guest lost two fingertips on his right hand while riding Pirates of the Caribbean at the Magic Kingdom.
