A Walt Disney World guest lost two fingertips on his right hand while riding Pirates of the Caribbean at the Magic Kingdom, fire officials confirmed.

The incident happened Thursday morning, according to the Reedy Creek Fire Department.

Fire officials said the man, a tourist from the United Kingdom, lost the tips of his ring and pinky fingers and was taken to an unspecified hospital nearby.

The man was not identified, but Reedy Creek fire spokesman Bo Jones, who spoke to News 13, described the man's injuries as non-life threatening.

Jones said the man was sitting in the ride vehicle and was holding onto part of the outside of the boat, when something struck his fingers.

Walt Disney World stopped the Pirates of the Caribbean ride to check it out, reopened it later Thursday after it was confirmed safe.
