A single-engine plane crashed through the roof of a building in Titusville just before noon Thursday after fire investigators said the aircraft lost power mid-flight.

Two people were on board the Beechcraft Sierra aircraft when it crashed into the American Paint and Body Collision Center, an auto body repair shop on the 2200 block of Garden Street.

Both the pilot and a passenger were transported to Parrish Medical Center with minor injuiries.

Titusville fire investigators said the plane was on its way back to Space Coast Regional Airport when it lost power.

The pilot, who was not immediately identified, tried to divert to Arthur Dunn AirPark, just north of the crash site. But the plane was unable to cover the necessary ground, leaving the pilot to try and land on the roof of the building.

The building was heavily damaged, and fire officials said the plane is a total loss.
