One man is in jail, and another is dead.

Orange County deputies said the common thread between the two men is a woman.

News 13 is learning more about the deadly shooting at a RaceTrac gas station near the intersection of John Young Parkway and Oak Ridge Road in Orange County.

43-year-old Eric George was gunned down at the RaceTrac gas station at around 5 p.m. Thursday night. Now 50-year-old Richard McKinney is behind bars for the crime.

Deputies said there had been conflicts between the two men in the past; George used to be married to the same woman that McKinney used to date.

News 13 was at McKinney's house 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon as detectives executed a search warrant and towed away a silver car. People inside the home said they had no comment about what happened. The house is about a mile from where the shooting took place.

Luis Martinez, who works across the street, heard the gunshots. He said it was terrifying.

Deputies said George arrived on a bike, he went into the store, then he and McKinney came out.

Witnesses told detectives they saw both men in the store together, but did not see them arguing or fighting.

That's when police say McKinney shot him at point blank range.

Martinez said, "It's shocking. It gave me chills."

The violence has left people in the community worried.

"Very, very concerned. You don't know if you can leave the house and come back," said Nelson Negron.

McKinney was arrested around 11:10 a.m. Friday at a Hess gas station on South Orange Blossom Trail near West Weatherbee Road.

Jail officials said McKinney will likely go in front of a judge for his first court appearance on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
