A 79-year-old man fought off an armed robber at a 7-Eleven in Orange County on June 14, deputies said.

The incident happened around 7 a.m., at the 7-Eleven located at 851 Lee Road.

The man was pumping gas into his car when a suspect approached him and said, "Give it up, old man!"

The suspect began to reach to get the man's wallet from his pocket, but the man clamped down and resisted. The suspect brandished a black semi-automatic handgun with his left hand.

The man showed the gun but never pointed it at the victim, who yelled, "You can't have my wallet. You have to shoot me."

A 7-Eleven employee managed to intervene, and the robber let go of the suspect.

The man is described to be between 28 years old and 35 years old about 5 feet, 8 inches, weighing 160 pounds.
